IF YOU NEED HELP FINDING A MISSING PERSON

IF YOU NEED SHELTER and / or SUPPLIES

Immediate Shelter – an overnight shelter is currently available with food & beds at Jennings Creek Elementary School operated by the Red Cross where you can also sign up for Red Cross assistance.   The Jaycee shelter formerly at Lampkin Park has merged with the Jennings Creek shelter.
 
Daytime shelter –
Kummer Little Recreation Center / 333 College Street, open from 7am-8pm every day till . . . ?
          Warming center inside, charge phones, showers
Transportation may be available from there to overnight shelters
 
Temporary Housing:
Kentucky State Parks, esp. Barren River Lake State Park

IF YOU WANT TO VOLUNTEER TO HELP

Trained rescue volunteers (experienced/trained law enforcement, emergency responders, military or others) may call 270.393.4116 to be connected with the BG Fire Department or will be vetted onsite at the BGFD Command Vehicle at Jennings Creek Elementary
 
Volunteer Staging for cleanup:
          WKU Center for Research & Development, 2413 Nashville Road, 8 am – 4 pm every day

IF YOU HAVE DAMAGED PROPERTY AS A RESIDENT OR BUSINESS

If affected by damage (residential or business) register with the American Red Cross either in person at Jennings Creek Elementary School / 2617 Russellville Road  or online (An online portal is coming . . . )

Small Business Administration handles:
  • Damage claims for landlords
  • Low interest loans, as low as 1.6% possible
 
IRS has extended 2021 tax deadline for affected people/businesses to May 16
Tax relief available to affected taxpayers in Caldwell, Fulton, Graves, Hopkins, Marshall, Muhlenberg, Taylor & Warren Counties  (See disaster relief page at IRS.gov)

IF YOU ARE CLEANING UP YOUR OWN PROPERTY

  • Separate natural debris (tree limbs, branches) piles form building material or household materials and place at curb.
  • Must be separated as it will be assessed by FEMA and disposed of differently
  • If you get it to the curb, local recovery workers will take it from there

IF YOU WANT TO APPLY FOR FEMA ASSISTANCE

Order of procedure: 
Call your insurance company first, then FEMA at: 1.800.621.3362 or online at: disasterassistance.gov  or FEMA mobile phone app
          You will Need:  copy of insurance policy / proof of residence, home ownership & bank account number if want payment by direct deposit
         
Registration will be open for 60 days from December 10 (to mid-Feb)

Will get a call back to set up an inspection from a FEMA representative
Should register directly with FEMA even if you have registered with a local emergency management agency
 
FEMA provides:
  • ‘Livable repairs’, not total renovation
  • Temporary housing for those in need
  • Displaced renters assistance

     Available to any 501C3 organization ‘that can provide data showcasing they are assisting disaster victims’
              (Presently:  Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Hotel INC & Warren Co. Public Schools, plus others)
              (You can designate that your donations be applied locally)
